Chris Hemsworth Competed Against These 10 Actors to Play Thor (Including One of His Brothers!)

In 2017, Joel Kinnaman revealed that Thor was the first audition he did for an American role.
“I don’t know exactly how close, but I think I was sort of in the runner-up,” he said on Live with Kelly and Ryan. He recalled that his sister reached out to reveal he was named in The Guardian as a frontrunner. “Nobody had told me about it, but it was me and three other guys [in the running].”
The actor hasn’t appeared in the MCU to this day. However, he had a starring role as Rick Flag in both Suicide Squad movies for DC.
Alan Ritchson
Speaking to Men’s Health, Alan Ritchson confirmed that he was in the running to play Thor, but he knew that the audition didn’t go well.
“I didn’t take it seriously,” he reflected. “I was like, ‘They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody really cares about acting.’” Alan was told that he didn’t have “the craft” for the role.
