Steven Spielberg calls the movie “closer to fact than fiction”

In an interview with Extra, Steven talked about making another alien movie after big hits with E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

“Well, I think it’s a departure from both E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which could both fall into the fantasy category, or into what I call science speculation with Close Encounters as opposed to just pure sci-fi,” Steven said. “But I got very, very interested in this subject when people who were in the know – people in the Air Force, Navy pilots, people in Congress – when they all started talking about this after the New York Times in 2017 leaked the Tic Tac footage that we’ve all heard about and seen.”

Steven added, “I got really interested in this not as a science fiction film, but as a kind of summation for me as a filmmaker in this genre that includes both of the aforementioned films. And so I took this subject very seriously because it’s something that I think is closer to fact than fiction.”

Disclosure Day hits theaters on June 12.

Deadline notes that the movie is “loosely based on the book” and plot details are currently unknown. The film will begin shooting in April.

The book‘s synopsis notes that it’s “the tale of three very different sisters: one who is beautiful, one who is smart, and one who is talented. A melodrama of sibling rivalry unfurls as one sister is driven mad with jealousy due to the passionate love affair of another. Escalating to a dizzying climax, the romance of the two lovers ends in sabotage, shame, and despair. And I’m not very online, so I didn’t know that this was a thing until the president of Disney-Pixar publicly declared that there will never be a live action Ratatouille remake, no matter how much Josh O’Connor wants it.”

“Do you know how it feels to be publicly rejected from a job I didn’t even want?” he added, noting he doesn’t “even want a live-action Ratatouille, I don’t have the time for it.”

“The truth is that … I think in the space of a week, I made a joke about, wouldn’t it be funny if I played Bond? Then, me and Daniel [Craig] did an Actors on Actors, and then something else happened, and then suddenly I was James Bond,” he said about how the rumor took flight.

Is there any truth to the rumor?

“If I am Bond, I don’t know about it,” Josh said.

Sam Heughan also recently opened up about whispers that he was in talks to land the iconic role.

Amid all of the casting rumors that are flying around, there was a worrying report about delays that are seriously holding up the next James Bond movie.

Daniel also revealed if he was interested in reprising the role.
