The singer’s family has confirmed that he died on Tuesday (June 2) at around 5:00pm ET. While a cause of death has not been announced, the family announced over the weekend that he had suffered a stroke.

The family announced the death in a statement provided to Variety.

With broken hearts and profound sadness, the family of two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer, Peabo Bryson, announces his passing. He transitioned peacefully at 5:00 p.m. ET on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him.

Peabo was best known for his renditions of Disney songs like “Beauty and the Beast,” which he sang with Celine Dion, and “A Whole New World,” which he performed with Regina Belle.

The family’s statement continued with more details.

For more than five decades, Peabo’s extraordinary voice served as the soundtrack to some of life’s most cherished moments. His music carried generations through joyful celebrations, great love stories and enduring moments of comfort and inspiration, creating a legacy that will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him and the countless lives he touched through song.

In this deeply difficult moment, the family asks for privacy as they mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, family member, friend and artist whose impact extended far beyond the stage.

We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world. This news will come as a great shock to many. While there are still questions that remain unanswered regarding the circumstances of his death, our understanding at this stage is that Owain passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully. 

The reach of Owain’s love, friendship, and generosity was vast. The outpouring of messages we have received over the past few days has been deeply moving and a testament to the impact he had on so many lives.

Owain was fortunate enough to have more than one family. Alongside his biological one, he built extraordinary, family-like bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones. I am incredibly proud that, while he was my brother, he was also a brother to so many others. We know that this loss will be felt by a great many people, and we take comfort in knowing how loved he was.

The Alaskan Bush People reality TV star has passed away due to an apparent suicide, according to his brother Bear Brown.

Bear uploaded a video on TikTok confirming the news.

“This is an update about Matt, They found a body in the river a few hours ago and it was positively identified as being Matt…I would have never suspected he would have hurt himself. Honestly he struggled for a long time as I’ve mentioned, and I was so worried he was gonna end up you know, like OD or something like that…I I didn’t think that he would hurt himself,” he explained.

“Please be respectful to my family, and to my mom, please watch the comments that you leave guys, sometimes words can hurt more than fists can,” he went on to say, asking for respect to his family as they process the loss.

Alaskan Bush People is a Discovery series that follows the Brown family surviving in the remote wilderness, which premiered in 2014.

TMZ obtained dispatch audio from the search, locating his backpack and a gun.

Fans became concerned after a live-stream he shared in May, in which he appeared naked and potentially intoxicated, possibly holding a gun.

According to family sources to TMZ, Matt became estranged from the family about five years ago amid addiction struggles.

He had appeared in 79 episodes of Alaskan Bush People from 2014 to 2019.

She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was a devoted American patriot.

She will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and her powdered, almond, crescent cookies at Christmas, hence her name, Auntie Cookie.

The former NHL athlete died at the age of 60, the NHL Alumni Association confirmed.

TMZ is reporting that Claude died by suicide, and was found Thursday morning (May 28) “at the family furniture business by his adult son around 3 AM after they became concerned that he hadn’t returned home.”

He was reportedly “located in a rear warehouse.”

Claude had just recently made an appearance at the Canadiens’ playoff game on Monday (May 26), where he carried the torch as part of a pregame ceremony at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Brad Galli reported.

The National Hockey League Alumni Association released a statement:

The NHL Alumni Association is devastated to share that Claude Lemieux has passed away at the age of 60. Born in Buckingham, Quebec, Claude was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft and would make his NHL debut just a few months later on October 13, 1983 and scored his first career NHL goal on December 4, 1983. Claude split time between the Canadiens organization and the QMJHL from 1983 to 1985, capturing the President’s Cup with the Verdun Junior Canadiens in 1985 as QMJHL playoff champions, while earning the Guy Lafleur Trophy as Playoff MVP.

The very next season, Claude recorded 10 goals and 16 points in 20 playoff games as he and the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup. Claude remained with the Canadiens for an additional four seasons before joining the New Jersey Devils ahead of the 1990-91 season. In 1994-95, his fifth and final season with New Jersey, Claude led the Devils to their first Stanley Cup championship, registering 13 goals in 20 playoff games, taking home the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP. As a member of the Colorado Avalanche in 1995-96, Claude was once again an integral part of team history as the Avalanche hoisted Lord Stanley’s Cup for the very first time in 1996.

Claude played 297 regular-season games in an Avalanche uniform before rejoining the New Jersey Devils in November of 1999, and for a fourth and final time, would be crowned a Stanley Cup champion on June 10, 2000. Claude later played for the Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars before making a comeback with the San Jose Sharks during the 2008-09 season. Internationally, Claude represented Canada on several occasions, including capturing a gold medal at the 1985 World Junior Hockey Championships and winning the 1987 Canada Cup.

The older son of the late Senator John McCain, and brother to Meghan McCain, died suddenly over the weekend, Meghan confirmed on social media.

“I am deeply saddened to share the news of my brother Doug McCain’s sudden passing. He was a truly wonderful, joyful man who supported me throughout my life. He brought humor, fun and great conversation to every room. I will cherish our memories together. Our prayers are with his wife Ashley and children Caroline and Shepp,” she said in a statement.

Her statement came in response to a statement from the McCain Institute shared on Saturday (May 23), reading: “We extend our condolences to the McCain family following the passing of Douglas “Doug” Shepp McCain, the eldest son of John McCain. A Navy pilot like his father, Doug will be remembered as a patriot and friend to the many alumni of Sen. McCain’s Institute, campaigns & Senate staff.”

The cause of his death has not yet been made public.

Doug was the son of John‘s first wife Carol Shepp, whom he adopted after the couple married in 1965. They later divorced, and John married Cindy McCain.

“I have a good relationship with Cindy, as do my brother and sister. And I have a good relationship with Meghan, Jack, Jimmy and Bridget. We’re not extraordinarily close, but if I ever need something, I know how to reach them,” Doug previously said of their extended family.

His father John McCain died in 2018 following a battle with brain cancer.

The fan-favorite 30 Rock star Grizzwald “Grizz” Chapman reportedly died on Friday, May 22, per his longtime rep Saideh A. Brown told TMZ the news but no other details regarding his death were released.

Grizz played a character of the same name on the long-running Emmy-winning NBC sitcom. He was also known for his variety sketch video series on YouTube called “Grizz Chroniclez.”

He was born in Brooklyn on April 16, 1974 and reached an impressive height of seven feet tall. According to Deadline, he was working as a bouncer when he met Tracy Morgan, who then cast Grizz and Kevin Brown as his characters primary two confidants on 30 Rock.

Outside of the sitcom and his YouTube series, Grizz also appeared in episodes of The Good Fight, The Blacklist, and Blue Bloods.

He leaves behind a wife and two children.

While no official cause of death has been shared, Hello! Magazine reveals that the actor “openly battled kidney disease for many years and underwent a kidney transplant in 2010 after spending years on dialysis.”

Amid an ongoing investigation into a missing persons report, police confirmed that the actor’s remains were identified roughly one day after authorities announced that Stewart may have been the victim of a homicide.

Stewart McLean was best known for appearing in shows including Virgin River, Arrow, and Travelers.

On Friday (May 22), Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) shared a media release with People confirming that Stewart’s remains were found in the Lions Bay area.

The actor was last seen at his residence in the British Columbia village on Friday, May 15. Three days later, on May 18, the Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Squamish RCMP) received a missing person report.

“As the investigation continues to unfold, homicide investigators are working to collect and analyze evidence, review CCTV footage and conduct interviews to build a timeline of Mr. McLean‘s activities prior to May 15, 2026,” IHIT Cpl. Esther Tupper said in a press statement.

The statement also noted that investigators are “pursuing all available leads” as authorities continue working to “find answers for the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. McLean.”

Police believe the disappearance was “an isolated incident.”

Earlier on Friday, the Squamish RCMP shared an update, saying investigators were working closely to “advance the investigation” after authorities confirmed they had uncovered evidence leading them to believe Stewart may have been the victim of a homicide.

Daniel‘s son Isaac died on Thursday (May 21) at the young age of 14 following a months-long battle with cancer.

Isaac was born with the rare genetic disorder Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, physical abnormalities, and the increased risk of developing cancers. Because of this, his parents knew that cancer would come one day, with the diagnosis happening in December 2025.

“TBH, we always knew this day was coming, as it’s a near certainty w/Fanconi anemia. But it’s definitely hitting a little earlier than we hoped and is still just such a shocking thing to hear about your child, even if you’ve braced for it for years,” Daniel wrote at the time.

“Brian Lindstrom died this morning the way he lived—with gentleness and courage, grace and gratitude for his beautiful life,” Cheryl wrote on Instagram. “Our children, Carver and Bobbi, and I held him as he took his last breath and we will hold him forever in our hearts. The only thing more immense than our sorrow that Progressive Supranuclear Palsy took our beloved Brian from us is the endless love we have for him.”

“What tremendous luck it was to be his partner for more than thirty years. We loved each other and our kids with deep devotion and true delight,” she continued. “He was a stellar husband. He was the most magnificent dad. He was a man whose every word and deed was driven by kindness, compassion, and generosity. He saw the goodness in everyone. He believed that we are all sacred and redeemable.”

Cheryl also highlighted Brian‘s work in the documentary field.

“His work as a documentary filmmaker was dedicated to telling stories of people who, as he put it, ‘society puts an X through,'” she wrote. “He erased that X with his camera and his astonishing heart. Cheryl and Brian had been together for over 30 years after meeting in 1995. They shared two children, Carver and Bobbi.

“His greatest legacy is Carver and Bobbi, who embody everything good and true about their father,” she wrote. “Their extraordinary grace, courage, and fortitude during this harrowing time was unfaltering and grounded in the undying love Brian poured into them every day of their lives.”

Cheryl concluded, “We do not know how we will live without him. We’re utterly bereft. We can only walk this dark path and search for the beauty Brian knew was there. It will be his eternal light that guides us.”

Cheryl revealed in April that Brian had been diagnosed with a “serious, fatal illness.” At the time, she canceled several work engagements to be with her husband.

Mike was an actor as well, and appeared in Malevolence and Eraser, as well as The Quick And The Dead alongside Sharon. More recently, he had appeared in 2022’s Destinos Opostos, and the 2021 short Renaissance Man.

She also lost younger brother Patrick in 2023 who reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac death due to heart disease, via Page Six. She also lost her mother last year.

Collins died on Tuesday (May 12) following a battle with brain cancer. His family announced the news in a statement, sharing that he died peacefully at home.

“We are heartbroken to share that Jason Collins, our beloved husband, son, brother and uncle, has died after a valiant fight with glioblastoma. Jason changed lives in unexpected ways and was an inspiration to all who knew him and to those who admired him from afar. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers over the past eight months and for the exceptional medical care Jason received from his doctors and nurses. Our family will miss him dearly.”

Jason announced his diagnosis with Stage 4 glioblastoma back in November 2025 and he traveled to Singapore in the winter for experimental treatments.

Back in 2013, Jason told the world that he was gay, becoming the first athlete in any of the four major sports leagues – NBA, NFL, MLB, or NHL – to come out while still playing the sport. He retired in 2014 after a 13-year career.

Brandon Clarke passed away at a home in the San Fernando Valley.

At around 5pm local time, the Los Angeles Fire Department was en route to an emergency at a home in the San Fernando Valley, which is in the Los Angeles area. When they arrived on the scene, Brandon had died.

His team, the Grizzlies, released a statement about his death.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke. Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an ever better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” they said.

The legendary Japanese horror writer, best known for penning the Ring book franchise that led to over a dozen films, died at the age of 68 in Tokyo, Japan.

Japanese newspaper Asahi reports that the author died at a hospital on May 8. A cause of death was not yet made public.

The author’s Ring series, which spawned the iconic character of Sadako (or Samara in the U.S. remakes), led to the 1998 classic Ringu, as well as the 2002 American remake starring Naomi Watts.

He is largely responsible for what would become the J-Horror wave in the ’90s and early ’00s, exposing audiences worldwide to Japanese horror.

Koji Suzuki also wrote the short story collection Dark Water, which went on to become another majorly popular Japanese horror movie in 2002, followed by the 2005 American remake.

His books included the Ring series (1991’s Ring, 1995’s Spiral, 1998’s Loop, 1999’s Birthday, 2012’s S and 2013’s Tide), and his works also inspired other movies including Open Water 2: Adrift, as well as the “Dream Cruise” episode of Masters of Horror.

Ubiquitous, his final novel, was released in 2025, with an English translation reportedly on the way as of last year. Here’s the synopsis:

“It breaks my heart to say that my cuddle princess has crossed over the rainbow bridge. This video was our last day together, and watching her take her final little breaths was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to endure,” Eiza wrote on her page, along with photos and videos of her canine family member.

“For almost 24 years, it was always you and me. People try to comfort me by saying I had you for such a long time, but what they don’t understand is that I’m mourning every single one of those years, days, minutes, and moments we shared. You’ve been with me since I was a child.”

She continued, “Anyone who has ever truly loved a pet knows this kind of bond. You were there through my teenage years, through becoming a woman, through every high and every low, through every place life took me. No matter where I went, it was always us.”

We learned that Darrell passed away on April 22 at the age of 67 in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Now the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office has revealed the official cause of death.

His death has been ruled a suicide. He was found dead at his home in Arizona with police saying it appeared he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, reports TMZ.

The outlet also reports one of his rivals on the A&E Network reality show, Rene Nezhoda, is claiming that Darrell was being relentlessly cyberbullied online before he died.

Police are aware and are looking into the accusations.

“We are aware of these cyberbullying accusations and that is a part of the active investigation,” the Arizona cops told TMZ.

Darrell‘s son, Brandon Sheets, shared a post about his dad last weekend, uploading a sweet video slideshow and captioning it: “Missing you hard today Dad.”

Darrell appeared as a main cast member and buyer in the Storage Wars series for 15 seasons and 163 episodes, known as “The Gambler.” He eventually retired to Lake Havasu in Arizona, and had reportedly been operating an antique store, called Havasu Show Me Your Junk.
