The 67-year-old actress mourned the death of her sibling on Saturday (May 30), and now, the coroner’s office is sharing her cause of death and more details.

Per the Blaine County coroner’s office, via Us Weekly, Kelly passed away from natural causes, and she was being taken care of by hospice in the last week before she died.

The office has also shared that she is expected to be cremated, and it’s currently unknown if the family is requesting an autopsy. Kelly‘s husband John Marsh was reportedly there when the coroner arrived.

Following her passing, Jamie Lee shared on Facebook, “She was my first friend and lifelong confidant. She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress. She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was a devoted American patriot.”

“She will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and her powdered, almond, crescent cookies at Christmas, hence her name, Auntie Cookie,” Jamie Lee added.

Kelly died on Saturday morning (May 30) at the age of 69, Jamie confirmed in a statement posted to social media. No details about her cause of death have been released as of this time.

The highly anticipated Jamie Lee Curtis-fronted reboot of the crime drama series has been pushed back by a few months.

The Universal Pictures movie was originally scheduled to be released on December 22, 2027.

It is currently scheduled to be released on February 4, 2028, per Variety.

Universal did not provide a reason for the scheduling change, although Variety noted that there are some huge releases coming on December 17, 2027: Avengers: Secret Wars, The Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum, and The Housemaid’s Secret.

As a result, it’s possible producers wanted to give the movie some distance from those massive franchises.

Jamie Lee Curtis is set to star as Jessica Fletcher, played by Angela Lansbury in the original TV series, which ran from 1984 to 1996 for 12 seasons. Angela passed away in 2022 at the age of 96.

We don’t know anything about what the movie will entail just yet, but Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore is helming the project, and Dumb Money writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo are doing the screenplay.

The project has been a long time coming: “Oh, it’s … happening,” Jamie said last summer.

“We’re a minute away. But yeah, very excited. Very excited,” she added. We first heard rumblings about the movie all the way back in 2023.

“The only reason I am sitting in this chair today is because of Jason. Jason Blum, who runs Blumhouse, is the one who brought back the Halloween movies,” Jamie shared, via Variety.

Then, she said when she got the call to reprise her role, she thought it was only one movie and didn’t know there would be more.

“If they had come to me and said it’s going to be a trilogy, I don’t think I would have said yes,” Jamie Lee revealed. “Jason Blum is notoriously cheap. How do you make low-budget movies? You don’t pay people. That’s the model.”

However, she did use this to her advantage…

“While we were editing and doing the mix, David said, ‘You know it’s a trilogy.’ I was like, ‘Uh, no.’ I went to Jason Blum and said, ‘I have some ideas, maybe you could give me a first look deal, just pay me a little money,’” she said. “I said to Jason, ‘How about a little development deal?’ And I owed him two Halloween movies, so what was he gonna say?”

The extra money she wanted was for filmmaker Russell Goldman, who she was working with to try and get their 2023 graphic novel “Mother Nature” made. Now, he works in development at her production company, and they are also premiering their movie Sender, which marks his feature film directorial debut, at SXSW.

The Halloween star looked exasperated as she looked at the crowd and back at the host before teasingly asking, “Wow. Are we going to get into, like, a thing?”

Of course, Jimmy was quick to say no, of course not.

“No! The thing is this: You have an open invitation, and I want you to come on the show anytime you’re in New York. I don’t care what you have going on. Anything. I absolutely adore you and everyone on the staff absolutely adore you,” he assured her.

Finally, Jamie seemed content.

She also did praise him, “You’re a very nice man. You’re handsome. You have a very talented group of people,” referring to the Roots. “Nice audience.”

“This is why I want you to come back every week. So good for my ego!” the host joked.

I don’t understand why that’s such a [big deal],” Jamie responded. “Unless I’m gonna get a call from all the people saying, ‘You just told [everyone],’ I think everybody understood that it was the last season of the show. If it isn’t, then I’ve completely blown it.”

The Bear was renewed for a fifth season back in July 2025 after the fourth season’s debut.

The new episodes are expected to premiere later this year on FX on Hulu.

In a post on Instagram, Jamie Lee wrote, “I woke up to the news that Robert Carradine died. I met him live on television on the Dinah Shore show when they had a bunch of second generation actors, we would call them now Nepo babies, Veronica, Cartwright, and Bobby and I came on last and Bobby rearranged where we were all sitting so that he could sit next to me and he kissed me, live on television. A very public meet cute. His three year old daughter, Ever, now a talented actress, had suffered a terrible burn from hot water and was in the burn unit and I met her for the first time there, this little girl wrapped in gauze with the biggest smile on her face and the most beautiful eyes.”

She added, “We became a little family, in a dirt floored house in Laurel Canyon, and it was my first experience with domesticity and motherhood and partnership. I remember walking with Ever to the little Canyon market and bringing our laundry down to the laundromat below and folding her little clothes for the first time and the simplicity and beauty of Laurel Canyon in the late 70s.”

She continued, “Bobby had made a movie with Melanie Griffith and they were lovers and later in my life Melanie and I became colleagues and ride or die best friends and we remain so to this day and she was the one who told me about his passing. Bobby was a racecar driver and he drove fast and furious in a Corvette on Mulholland. It’s a miracle we weren’t killed. One day I remember the sun hitting his face and me turning and looking at him and saying “Wait, were you in the movie The Cowboys? Were you Slim?” He was my first crush in the movies and I didn’t realize it. He also starred in a movie with my husband, Christopher Guest The Long Riders where a group of different sets of brothers all portrayed these real life historical brothers. We were remained friends after we broke up and Ever and I have as well.”

During the ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Iliza Shlesinger, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman was honored with the Variety Courage Award, presented by Purina, which “recognizes her powerful advocacy and leadership on behalf of survivors of abuse, as well as for showing survivors how the unconditional love of a pet can be part of the healing journey.”

The 28-year-old Emmy-nominated actress stepped out for Variety’s 2025 Power of Women event on Wednesday evening (October 29) held at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

For the event, Sydney left very little to the imagination while wearing a sheer and sparkling silver dress.

While on the red carpet Sydney posed for photos with Jamie Lee Curtis and Sharon Stone along with Christy Martin, the real-life boxer she plays in the new movie Christy.

In her new interview with Variety, Sydney set the record straight about those romance rumors involving her and Glen Powell.

In a new interview with Variety, the 66-year-old Freakier Friday star claimed an “excerpt” of what she said was “mistranslated,” and it made it sound like she was speaking of him in a “very positive way,” when in fact she was referring more to “his faith in God.”

For context, Jamie was on Marc Maron‘s WTF podcast when she brought up Charlie‘s death and said, “I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith. Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it.”

While speaking with Variety, she said, “An excerpt of it mistranslated what I was saying as I wished him well — like I was talking about him in a very positive way, which I wasn’t; I was simply talking about his faith in God.”

People were particularly critical of Jamie‘s initial sentiment as Charlie was openly against transgender rights. The actress herself has a trans daughter, Ruby, and has always advocated for LGBTQ rights.

She continued, “And so it was a mistranslation, which is a pun, but not. In the binary world today, you cannot hold two ideas at the same time: I cannot be Jewish and totally believe in Israel’s right to exist and at the same time reject the destruction of Gaza. You can’t say that, because you get vilified for having a mind that says, ‘I can hold both those thoughts. I can be contradictory in that way.’”

The Oscar-winning actress got emotional while discussing Charlie‘s assassination on an episode of Marc Maron‘s WTF podcast last week.

“I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” Jamie said.

“Yesterday was 9/11. I know there is video of his assassination. I know people who’ve seen it,” she added. “Yesterday [on 9/11], we watched again these images of those buildings coming down… Today, we as a society are bombarded with imagery. So we don’t know what the longitudinal effects of seeing those towers come down over and over and over and over again, or watching his execution over and over and over again.”

Jamie talked about the effect that watching the assassination video might be having on people.

“We don’t know enough psychologically about what that does. What does that do? That kind of — I don’t ever want to see this footage of this man being shot,” she said.

The Lost Bus is based on real events and adapted from Lizzie Johnson’s non-fiction book, “Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire.” It is described as “a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno.

The upcoming movie is slated to hit theaters on September 19th, and streams on Apple TV+ on October 3rd.

The 66-year-old actress attended a special Freakier Friday screening at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday (August 15). Attendees at the screening were encouraged to “Dress Like Tess” and take some inspiration from Jamie‘s character in the movies.

Jamie shared a group photo with some of the attendees on her Instagram. In the photo, she’s surrounded by a group of fans that donned red pixie wigs and boho-inspired floral dresses straight out of the first Freaky Friday film.

“THE ULTIMATE OF HONORS, the SINCEREST form of flattery,” Jamie captioned the photo with her group of lookalikes.

For the event, Jamie dressed up as her own character, choosing to pick one of the looks from the sequel for her outfit. Jamie kept her hair down and wore the same gray, off-the-shoulder suit with a wide black belt that she wore in part of Freakier Friday.
