The election day took place on Tuesday (June 2), and the early results are in, revealing where Spencer, Karen and councilwoman Nithya Raman all stand in the mayoral race.

At the time of this post, only nearly 50% of votes have been counted, with Karen in the lead and Spencer trailing close behind.

Deadline reports that Karen is at 37% of the votes, while Spencer has 30%. Nithya trails in third with 20.5% of votes.

Top 2 Candidates Will Face Off in November Election

A candidate will need at least 50% of the vote from Tuesday’s election to win the mayoral seat, and if they don’t reach that threshold, the top two will go up against each other in November’s general election.

So, did Spencer win or lose? If these current results hold up, he got what he wanted as he’s still in the running. It was very unlikely that any candidate would win in this primary.

Back in 2022, Rick Caruso led Karen Bass on election night, but after a week of counting votes, Bass came out on top.

During an election night event in Koreatown, Karen addressed supporters, touting her outcome is “looking good so far.”

“Tomorrow begins the second half of this journey,” she said. “We can have the city we know we all deserves.”

Spencer has not yet spoken out publicly about the election.

While attending the 2026 Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television on Friday (May 29), the 31-year-old Hacks actress said it was important to resist The Hills star’s campaign and that he shouldn’t be in the running or win.

“There’s a lot of wealth in this city and I think that there are a lot of people who masquerade as Democrats or people on the left, but really, money is their key issue and that’s what lead them to vote for people like Spencer Pratt — who is endorsed by Donald Trump,” she told Variety. “It’s important to resist that.”

“It’s very complicated. No one is perfect, there are no perfect candidates. I’m overwhelmed in a lot of ways but I have made the choice to put Nithya [Raman] down, and that’s what we’re doing girls!” Hannah added.

That same day, Spencer reposted the Variety video interview on Twitter/X and reacted to what she said of him.

“She says from a literal red carpet, surrounded by armed security, completely insulated from the horrors on our streets that Angelenos and their kids have to suffer through every day,” Spencer wrote. “I’m glad she doesn’t have to suffer the consequences of Karen and Nithya’s failures, but she’s in an elite minority and the rest of us want change.”

Spencer is currently in the running for the new mayor of Los Angeles in California, with his top opponents being current mayor Karen Bass and councilwoman Nithya Raman.

Spencer‘s profile, titled “Spencer Pratt Takes Us Around the City He Thinks He Can Save,” features photos of him in Los Angeles locations that mean a lot to him, including his alma mater USC, his favorite restaurant Don Antonio’s and Dodger’s Stadium.

Andy Maher, a producer on the CBS shows All Rise and East New York, wrote in a post on his Instagram account that for Interview Magazine to platform someone like Pratt “in a lighthearted feature designed to humanize him and make this campaign feel amusing or unserious seems like a reckless lapse in judgement. The reality star says that he has received support in his Los Angeles mayor campaign from both Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx, though he admits they might deny it.

Pratt shared the claim in a new interview with Us Weekly.

“Usually I don’t name-drop, but I had two of my favorite people ever support me. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx both said, ‘Please, Mr. Mayor, we want these streets safe again.’ If their reps try to deny this happened, I have multiple witnesses. It was an out-of-body experience.”

Sources told EW that DiCaprio has “not publicly or privately endorsed any candidate.”

Still, Pratt says he’s not seeking any endorsements from major names. He said, “The only endorsements I seek, which I have, are moms in Los Angeles, animal lovers and one that I just got, the Latino Business Association, which are 800,000 Latino businesses that Mayor Bass has failed.”

In a video to comedian Adam Carolla posted to X on Saturday (May 16), Pratt said that he will move out of L.A. if he loses the mayoral race.

“I’m going to win the lawsuit against [California Governor] Gavin Newsom’s state park, and with that money, if I’m the mayor of Los Angeles, I will rebuild,” Pratt said. “If Karen Bass gets reelected or Nithya [Raman] gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in L.A.”

“I’ll take that money from the Newsom state park and the LADWP [Los Angeles Department of Water and Power], and I’ll go somewhere that my kids will not have to see naked zombies, and I can have the last American dream somewhere,” he continued. Pratt shares sons Gunner, 8, and Ryker, 4, with wife Heidi Montag.

He also made it clear that he will “not rebuild” L.A. if someone else wins the mayoral race.

“What would I be putting money into?” he wondered.

On Friday (May 15), the 51-year-old comedian shared a video on TikTok where she encouraged her followers against voting for the 42-year-old reality star to become the next mayor of Los Angeles.

“Oh, hi, if you’re seeing this video, this is a reminder that a straight, white male [who is a] former reality star that has no previous experience in government should not be a legitimate political candidate,” Chelsea said. “Have we learned anything yet?”

As she shared several photos of Pratt, she also included a photo of President Donald Trump, who she has been very vocally against.

Pratt says it was Foster‘s idea for him to be a villain on reality TV.

“David Foster, he was like, ‘You need to be the Simon Cowell of reality TV.’ And I didn’t even watch American Idol. I didn’t even know who Simon Cowell was. I was like, ‘What? What does that mean? What are you talking about?’ He’s like, “Be the bad guy. Be the villain,'” Spencer said on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show recently.

TMZ and Deadline both shared that The Hills alum is filming a new series with wife Heidi Montag and their kids, starting with his journey as he campaigns to be elected the next Mayor of Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, Spencer has signed a deal with Boardwalk Pictures and filming would begin soon. They report that filming would continue if he wins the election.

Why is he staying at the hotel?

Spencer tells the publication it’s because he’s been getting death threats and the hotel has “its own armed security [and] that has become the only option.”

“The reality is the Bassholes and Ramaniacs are a little bit whacko, and since I destroyed them in the debate, and am surging in the polls, they are getting increasingly desperate and hostile,” he added. “I can’t talk about specific threats, but that lot is … unsafe now.”

The Hills alum reshared TMZ‘s post on Twitter/X and took a dig at current Mayor Karen Bass, who is also running to retain her seat.

“Hey guys, why don’t they wanna talk about why I need a hotel in the first place? Karen Bass let my home burn down. Also 6,000 of my neighbors. NBD,” he wrote.

Spencer also tells TMZ about living in the airstream, “I have never told anyone I lived there.”

“After CBS embarrassed Karen Bass by fact-checking her debate lies about the Palisades fire, they clearly got the call,” he said in the fiery video on Friday night (May 8). “CBS filmed with me on my burned-out lot for over an hour talking about crime, housing affordability, things that voters care about, and they turned it over to Karen Bass’ PR team to edit it into a comical five-minute hit piece with clips from The Hills.”

“They can’t beat my ideas,” he went on. “They can’t beat me in the debates. So they got to try to turn my campaign into a sideshow. People are done with these skeezy political tricks, and I’m done with CBS. They should release the full unedited interview the voters deserve to hear from their next mayor.”

Spencer isn’t the first political candidate to call out CBS. During the 2024 Election cycle, Donald Trump sued the organization over 60 Minutes editing an interview with Kamala Harris.

Some people responded to her and said she should be more supportive of her brother. In response, The Hills alum accused him of beating her up when she was 18 and putting her in the hospital.

Stephanie then went on to say that she would always be “team Lauren Conrad,” and alleged that Spencer got her hooked on drugs when she was 15.

“I’ve kept this all a secret for years. He also had a hidden drug addiction. Now do you get he shouldn’t be running LA. Thank you. Amen,” she wrote.

Her tweets continued as she launched into what she asserts is the “history of Spencer.”

In his new memoir The Guy You Loved to Hate: Confessions from a Reality TV Villain, which is out now, Spencer, 42, revealed that when he was in high school, he sold photos of a teenage Mary-Kate Olsen to the press for $50K.

Keep reading to find out more…Spencer said that he wanted to direct his own film, but didn’t have the funds to do so, so he tapped into a “wasted resource” with the help of Mary-Kate‘s ex-boyfriend Max Winkler, who is also the son of Henry Winkler.

According to Spencer, Max had a “photo shrine” in bedroom dedicated to Mary-Kate, whom he had recently split from. Describing the photos as “young love documented in European hotels, Hollywood parties, stolen moments,” Spencer said that he urged his friend to take them down.

“I asked Max if I could take the photos off his wall — you know, for his healing process,” Spencer wrote, per People. “He didn’t say no, so I took that to be a yes.”

When he went to visit the Winkler house, Spencer said that he greeted Henry as he walked in and left with all of the photos of Max and Mary-Kate.

He ended up selling the photos to an photo agency for $50,000, a price he said made him feel “rich” at the time.

“Less than a week later there it was, evidence of my entrepreneurial genius staring back at me from the InTouch cover at a gas station: ‘TEENS GONE WILD!’ across the cover,” Spencer wrote of the 2004 tabloid news story.

“A shot of Mary-Kate with a constellation of empties—‘LOOK AT ALL THE EMPTIES!’—and there I was in the background, frozen mid-shaka,” he continued. “I hadn’t sold that frame. Someone else was shopping, and now I wasn’t just the seller, I was part of the merchandise. My face was now forever linked to Mary-Kate Olsen’s supposed wild phase, preserved in grocery store checkout lines across America.”

Now more than 20 years later, Spencer still defends his decision to sell the photos.

“When you really think about it, it was a win-win,” he wrote. “Mary-Kate got her rebel rebrand, Max got closure.”

Spencer and Heidi are among the many who lost their homes to the Palisades fire a year ago, and he has been a loud and outspoken critic of how current Mayor Karen Bass, Governor Gavin Newsom and other government officials handled the tragic event, before and after the devastating fires.

Mayor Bass‘ term is up this year, and she is reportedly seeking re-election.
